Brayden's progress

I havent post in a LOOONNNG Time. Bray is doing very well! Last spring we got him in the PPCD program with Frisco Schhol District. His teacher Mrs. Addae is amazing! His speech has come so far in 6 months it is amazing! He does still have a speech problem in the pronunciation, but his vocabulary is no longer an issue. His tantrums are better and still have a way to go in that area.

Lots of News

We had the 2nd of 4 meetings with the school district today. I couldnt tell what impression he had made on the evaluation team. He was pretty cooperative for them. We will have our next meeting 4/2.

We got a new puppy - Toby. Black retriever mix. so cute!

Brayden's speech is developing so nicely! I love his most recent sentence - "NO WIKE NOMAN". Apparently he doesnt like snowmen :)

We also joined a camping preserve and have been camping and fishing alot in the RV. He LOVES the outdoors!

Great news to report! He is sleeping through the night again. He wakes up occasionally, but not like he was. We thought we were going to die trying to survive that!

Updates

It has been a LOOOOONG time since I have updated as we have been incredibly busy trying to get Bray help. Here are some highlights of events in the recent months.

We had out first ARD meeting (1 of 3) with the Frisco Independent School District for admission processing for the early intervention program called PPCD. We will have the 2nd meeting 3/26, and the final meeting sometime before his 3rd birthday 4/9. So we will not know anything until all 3 meetings have been held.

Brayden did pee in the potty today! HIP HIP HORAY! He was in the tub and said "I got to go potty... I gotta pee" !!!! I poured some water on him and he finally did and said "I doin' it I doin' it"!

Brayden started therapy at Frisco Our Childrens House at Baylor. It is ok. It is very time consuming. I am going to check into an agency called Therapy 2000. They come to the house.

His speech has come such a long way since the tube & adnoid surgery! I cant believe how much he is talking in such the short amount of time. Tantrums are still very much a problem, but small improvements are noticable.

He also did not cry for the first time ever when I dropped him off for preschool this week. Both days! He instead cried when I picked him up :(

Update to the sleeping issue... he in the last few weeks is back to sleep. That was a painful reminder of what it is like to have a newborn that doesnt let you sleep.

So overall, I think this shows so much improvement. He is going to be ok!!!!

Progress

Brayden has slept through the night the last 2 nights. It has been HELL! Hopefully we got him back into a routine.

He has been doing very well. He is truly interested in trying to talk now. He still is having difficulty regulating his emotions, and still doesnt have the coping skills shen he gets overstimulated. He only had one meltdown during the 4 day Holiday weekend. That is huge!

Chiropractor is very impressed with his progress, He is moving along better than he anticipated.

We see the DAN! (Defeat Autism Now) doctor next week. I am anxious to see what he has to say. He will test him for gluten & casein intolerance. So I am praying he is not intolerant and we can ease back into foods.

I think having the adnoids out has been the biggest help of all. He doesnt drool like a 6 month old baby anymore.

We saw an allergist/ immunologist several weeks ago, and just like some of the other docs, he proved to also be as useless as the poop flavored lollipop. After the extreme rudeness to Makenna by the 3 nurses (FOR NO GOOD REASON!), and them stabbing Brayden to draw blood, and then calling me to go back to the lab to get more cause they (nurses) didnt do it right, AND the doc wanted to put him on 6 months of DAILY antibiotics (UMMMM NO!), we will not be returning. Can we say adding to the candida issue? Dumbass.

We are looking forward to Christmas! Here is a little extra something...... http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1113849093

Worn out

I am worn out and broken at this point. We survived the post-op stuff, no bad breath, but he has woken up every night. He has never done this, and it needs to pass!

He went to the dentist and that was horrific. But his teeth are in great shape.

We got kicked out of the gym Saturday due to temper tantrum. We were only there 20 minutes!

He went to the allergist today. That too was horrific. It sent him into a 1 hour tantrum. They took blood which of course didnt help the situation. He thinks Bray has an immune issue (ya think?). We will have the results 1/3/08.

He starts his in home occupational therapy tomorrow. Recheck with ENT next Monday.

Some days I am encouraged. Last night he gazed in my eyes for the longest time. That is huge! He is also more motivated to try to talk. And, he is so wants his sister to play with him. These are all drastic changes and I have to hold on to that for hope. I think with the motivation, we can do anything. He just had NO interest before. And man is he a lovey dovey now!
